El Minzah Hotel Tangier by Le Royal Hotels & Resorts opened its doors in 1930 at the command of John Crichton-Stuart, the 4th marquis of Lord Bute, a British aristocrat with extensive interests in the area.
This historical property is considered one of the most prestigious hotels in North Africa. It has been a favorite of many dignitaries, politicians and Hollywood stars such as HRH the Comte de Paris, Sir Rex Harrison, Rita Hayworth, Rock Hudson, Jean Claude Van Damme, Jacques Cousteau and many others.
El Minzah’s architecture, fountains and orange trees create a charming atmosphere day and night. Today, El Minzah Hotel Tangier will take you into the mysterious delight of Morocco with its five star service and exquisite gastronomy.
True Arabesque woodwork, oriental carpets and arched doorways greet you around the lobby area, where you can enjoy traditional Moroccan tea and perhaps some almond sweets as well. Many parts of the property afford a stunning view of the bay of Tangiers and its busy port (becoming marina in the recent future).
The Andalusian patio forms the heart of the hotel, with a magnificently carved sandstone portal, iron studded wooden doors and old world-charm. This patio is exceptionally beautiful, offering alfresco dining options in the morning as well as in the evening.
Comfortable bedrooms in a serene setting distinguish El Minzah Hotel Tangier as a five-star property with all the amenities of its class, along with an Andalusian touch. There are 140 elegantly furnished air-conditioned bedrooms, including 17 suites. Almost all of the bedrooms face the sun and afford sublime views of the gardens, courtyard, or the Bay of Tangier and the Mediterranean. Wireless internet is available in all rooms and in public areas.
There are several restaurants and bars in the hotel. El Erz Restaurant offers international cuisine that will appeal to all palates, while El Korsan is famous for its Moroccan specialties such as Couscous and Tagine.
Open from 10 pm, Caid's piano bar is a lovely evening option, so is the wine bar with its bistro-like atmosphere and its large variety of wines. During the day you must have lunch at the Misbah club overlooking the swimming pool and gardens for a true North African experience.
El Minzah Wellness, a sophisticated health club offering fitness activities and SPA treatments, will transport you to another world of health and relaxation. Guests can unwind at the sauna, steam bath or Turkish bath after a dip in the pool. A beauty shop and Venus bar are also found on the premises. The hotel is also in close proximity to the Royal Golf Country Club, as well as stables for horseback riding and tennis courts.
